Police are appealing to the public to help identify the driver of a vehicle which was impounded after doing burnouts at the intersection of Park Rd and Polley Cres at Katikati last Sunday night.
People were seen on Park Rd videoing the older style green Holden vehicle doing burnouts from
Polley Cres to Binnie Rd, where its tyres blew out.
Police Constable Peter Krom said they located the vehicle at a Polley Cres address where the occupants were having a Bathurst-type party. He said there were about 10 people at the address who became aggressive.
Further police had to be called from Tauranga to backup Katikati Police officers. While the police were waiting for backup a man and a woman at the address had an argument. The man was given a warning by police.
The woman involved had earlier decided to drive out on to the road in her vehicle. She was arrested for refusing to accompany police for an evidential breath test. She was taken to the police station and processed for drink-driving.
