Police were called to McLaren Falls this morning following reports of an empty kayak found beside the water.

A police media spokeswoman said police were called to the park in the Lower Kaimai ranges about 8.30am after a member of the public found an empty kayak by the lake.

However, it had since been confirmed the empty kayak belonged to a staff member at McLaren Falls and no-one was missing.
