Pohutukawa tree saved from being cut down

A large pohutkawa tree on Second Ave will now face being severley pruned rather than felled.

Tauranga City Council has changed its mind about felling the tree despite calls from local residents to cut it down.

Second Ave residents say the tree is blocking the light and causing flooding.

The council decision overturns the earlier decision of the tree sub-committee to fell the tree outside number 10 and cut back the neighbouring pohutukawa outside number two.
