A plane has had to make a emergency landing after getting into trouble above the Bay of Plenty this morning.
Emergency services were responding to reports of a single-engine aircraft with two people on board, running low on oil, as it approached Tauranga Airport about 10.45am.
A Tauranga City Council spokeswoman said a light plane had reported engine problems about 10.45am.
The plane made a precautionary landing at a paddock in Athenree. No injuries had been reported.
The plane initially planned to land at Tauranga Airport and the airport went into full emergency.
