Plain talking at Tedx event

TEDxTauranga is back next week to inspire locals and visitors to the Bay.

The event is returning for the fifth time on October 7 and has 10 live speakers on offer.

TED is a non-profit organisation that shares its concept of "ideas worth spreading" through worldwide events and online talks.

This year's speakers have a range of subjects to talk about from writing to assisting families in conflict zones to architectural creativity.

Will Johnston, radio host on The Hits Bay of Plenty, is this year's MC.
