Local woman Patrea Rawson has always wanted to show support for the Breast Cancer Foundation, and this year she decided it was time to something about it.
Patrea and her good friend Michele Smith both know people who have had breast cancer and they decided to host a high noon tea that women will leave feeling very special.
"The charity is close to both of us and we didn't want to do just an average have a cup of tea and maybe raise some money. We wanted to go big and see where it went," says Patrea.
The women have organised a pinkalicious soiree at boutique bed and breakfast Willowdene, where guests will be treated to pink bubbles on arrival, delicious food, and a lovely location, says Patrea.
"We want women to feel special when they come. There will be lovely music, beautiful goodie bags. The Willowdene venue is absolutely gorgeous which Sue and Colin Stevens have so graciously given over to the cause."
In addition to the Willowdene owners, businesses throughout the country have donated to the Pink Ribbon cause.
They include cosmetics giant Loreal who has donated $300 gift basket, The Langham Auckland who is donating a lunch for two, and Nadia Lim who has donated a signed cookbook, among many more treats up for silent auction and giveaways.
Patrea says support for the charity is high and business people are very happy to give prizes to help raise money.
"It has been absolutely amazing. All you have to do is tell them what it is for and people have said yes, we will give you this, we will help with that," says Patrea.
Guest speakers, including Intimo Lingerie, will tell guests about their special affiliation with Pink Ribbon.
Raglan singer/songwriter Parabola West is entertaining throughout the event. Patrea and Michele are hoping their Pink Ribbon High Noon Tea will be an annual event that women will look forward to every year.
In 2016 Pink Ribbon Breakfasts throughout the country raised over $1.7 million for breast cancer research, clinical trials and supporting people with breast cancer.
