Fire crews lifted a forklift to free a person after it rolled in Mount Maunganui today.

Emergency services were called to Links Ave, near the Links Ave reserve, at noon.

Acting Senior Sergeant Bruce Gordon said the person’s leg was trapped after the forklift rolled.

Fire crews lifted the forklift to free the man, Gordon said.

A St John spokesman said one person was taken to Tauranga Hospital in a moderate condition. The road has reopened.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said two crews attended the scene.
