A person has been taken to Tauranga Hospital after being attacked by a dog in Maketu.

Initial reports stating that the victim was a child could not be confirmed this afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to a report by ambulance staff of a child having been attacked by a dog at residential property on Maketu Rd at 3.10pm.

However, officers were still at the scene and some details were unclear at this stage, she said.
