Person hurt as digger falls into Bay of Plenty drain

A person has been hurt after an incident near Maketu involving a digger.

The digger appeared to have been offloaded from a truck when it fell into a drain, a police spokeswoman said.

Police, firefighters and ambulance staff were called to the incident on Wilson Rd North about 8am.

The spokeswoman said a person had suffered minor injuries.
