A person has been hit by a car in Mount Maunganui.

A police media spokeswoman said a call came through at 10.38am saying a person had been hit by a car on Golf Rd.

The car was blocking the east-bound lane, the spokeswoman said.

The person who was hit was conscious and breathing. They were being assessed by ambulance staff.
