A man has been freed from a submerged car near Paengaroa.
A police media spokeswoman said police were called to State Highway 33 between Maniatutu Rd and Allport Rd about 7.50pm after a car went off the road and into the water.
"The single male occupant of the vehicle wasreportedly trapped for a time but was freed by 8.10pm with the assistance of Fire and Emergency New Zealand," she said.
St John Ambulance staff assessed the man who was reportedly uninjured in the incident.
