Papamoa College will be playing host to an outdoor movie screen in April.

The college's Parents and Friends Group is hosting the evening on April 8 and, together with Night Owl Cinemas, will be screening the original Karate Kid.

Food and drinks will be on sale from 5pm with pre-movie entertainment by Urban Dance, Bay of Plenty Karate Association and Han Lee Taekwondo.

Event organiser Kath Sargent said this was the first event of its kind in Papamoa.

"We are really excited to be able to provide an this evening like this for the community. We look forward to making it an annual fundraising event for the college."

Ms Sargent said the group was looking forward to seeing the Papamoa community come together to make a night of it.

"Bring along your family and friends, your picnic blankets, and enjoy a great night of food, entertainment and a movie under the stars."
