The plight of a Tauranga woman critically injured in a crash in Melbourne has spread the length of the country.
The staff at Turners in Christchurch have taken it upon themselves to fundraise for Diane Wilson who remains in an induced coma after the August 31 crash.
MissWilson's father, Craig, is a consultant at Turners in Tauranga and a message about the family's situation was circulated to staff around the country.
The Christchurch branch decided to hold an in house auction tonight to sell off cakes and other goodies to support Miss Wilson's rehabilitation but consultant Alan Grigor will auction off his 2001 Nissan Maxima, next Thursday with half the proceeds going to the family.
"It's got 270,000km on the clock. It's still goes lovely."
Mr Grigor said the car was worth between $1000 and $2000.
The Christchurch-based salesman said he had never met Mr Wilson or his daughter but felt for them after reading of her plight in the Bay of Plenty Times. The car crash left her with a smashed pelvis, a break in her neck at the base of her skull and brain bleeds.
Miss Wilson was also born with Crouzon's Syndrome, a condition that meant the bones of her skull were fused together,
Turners' chief executive Todd Hunter said branches around the country had rallied to help the family. The Wellington team were holding a mufti day and a sausage sizzle, in Auckland there would be a mufti day and the management team were shaving their heads while on the North Shore a silent art auction was being held.
