The Coastline District Rugby League Awards Ceremony for the 2016 season was held at the Otumoetai Eels Rugby League Club yesterday.

It was almost a total clean sweep of awards won by the Otumoetai Eels and Papamoa Bulldogs.

Coastline DRL Chairman Stan Nicholas says it was a nice and humbling awards ceremony for all involved, with many outstanding achievements from local clubs.

"Noah Walker, Las Filo, Koby Rodger and Liam Jones all represented Coastline then Wai-Coa-Bay Colts teams at the national championship tournament," he said.

"James Parkinson was awarded the grand final duties along with referee of the tournament award at the recent NZ Maori national rugby league tournament in Wellington over Labour Weekend, alongside being a notable standout ref throughout the local Wai-Coa-Bay, BOP and Coastline competitions this season.

"Otumoetai Eels won club of the year due to their Under-13s winning their championship and the Under-15s, 17s, Premiers and Reserves all making major semifinals in their local Coastline, BOP & Wai-Coa-Bay competition grades.

"Papamoa Bulldogs took out Supreme Team of the Year after dominating both Coastline/BOP combined and Wai-Coa-Bay Under-15s championships.

Nicholas congratulated all recipients and all the other players, coaches, managers, trainers, volunteers and referees who were finalists at the awards.

"You are all a credit to your clubs and our district. An honest and sincere thanks in being part of the greatest game in the world.

"A great season for all Coastline clubs with NRL scouts now sitting up taking notice of players in our district."
