One person was taken to hospital following a two-car crash just before peak-hour traffic in Tauranga this evening.
The crash happened at the intersection of Chapel St and Takitimu Dr just before 5pm.
A police media spokeswoman said the crash involving two cars was blocking the middle of the road
and there was smoke coming out of one of the vehicles.
She said one person was taken to Tauranga Hospital's emergency department and a second person involved suffered no injuries.
A tow truck was sent to remove the vehicles from the scene and traffic was now flowing.
