Waipuna Hospice reached another milestone when the kitchen was installed yesterday afternoon at the organisation's fundraising house in The Lakes subdivision.
It has been almost 17 weeks since construction began and the project is now another step closer to completion.
The kitchen, valued at about $14,000, was donated by Heirloom Kitchens.
 Company owner
Brett Chatfield said the donation was a significant financial contribution for Heirloom, but he understood the costs when the business became involved with the project last year.
"We wanted to get involved in a significant project and when it's a big project like this, people at work can feel that they have taken ownership," he said.
About 12 employees from Heirloom Kitchens had worked on the project in some way.
Mr Chatfield said his employees had responded well to the project and had helped when they could.
