No chemistry, no regret for Bay's Bachelor contestant

Ousted The Bachelor New Zealand contestant Lara Christie would rather have a beer with this year's Bachelor than receive a rose from him.

On Tuesday the 27-year-old was not given a red rose at the cocktail party, ending her time on the TV3 reality show.

Ms Christie, who calls Papamoa home, and Te Puke woman Kate Cameron were the only two women from the Bay of Plenty to feature in the show.

Ms Cameron is still in the running to win Mr Mauger's heart.

Ms Christie told to the Bay of Plenty Times she did not think her connection with Mr Mauger was strong enough to keep her in the show.

"He is a nice guy but no way. I could barely imagine getting to home visits.

"He would be a good guy as a mate but that's about it for me. I mean I would have him around for a beer but not anything else really," she said.

In the lead-up to her last rose ceremony she knew the pair didn't have any spark.

"I honestly wasn't convinced that him and I were a match. I was having a great time but it was pretty obvious who he had chemistry with, and those people are your friends so you really don't want to try and force something for the sake of a competition."

Ms Christie said when she and Ms Cameron were in the bottom two of this week's rose ceremony she knew she was going home having not spent much time with Mr Mauger.

"I was happy for Kate to stay and I knew when it was down to us two that I was going home. It didn't really bother me as you could probably see.

"It would have been great if we had been afforded more time to get to know one another, some of the girls had spent a lot more time with him and developed genuine connections.

"Whereas it didn't come naturally between us."

Ms Christie said she will have to wait and see what was in store for her love life in the future.

"I'm not trying to rush it.

"I did genuinely go in to the show with the best intentions and I always wanted to stay true to myself."

The marketing manager said she needed a breather from reality TV shows but would not turn down the opportunity again if it was offered to her.

Ms Christie said she thought either Fleur or Gab would take out this year's competition.
