A leading academic at Waikato Management School has been made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his outstanding service to business and education.
Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Strategy, Jens Mueller, who lectures on Waikato's Master of Business Administration and other postgraduate programmes, is an expertin corporate governance, entrepreneurship and long-term business performance strategies.
Dr Mueller, who lives in Pyes Pa, has more than 25 years' experience as a chair, chief executive and consultant for numerous multinational firms in Europe and North America.
He has also been a key adviser to many large companies and government agencies, including Fonterra, Telecom (now known as Spark), the Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
Dr Mueller has also worked with many healthcare organisations and many Maori-led entities to help them create a sustainable commercial platform, and serves on several boards, including Pukehinahina Trust.
He was appointed a director of Pharmac in 2010, and is currently advising the World Health Organisation in the Western Pacific Region.
Four times he was named "Professor of the Year" by MBA participants at Northern Illinois University's College of Business where he lectures in global business management.
He also founded the Students in Free Enterprise programme to enable university students to find employment and connect with business leaders.
