New mobile sites have been built in Papamoa and Paengaroa.

Spark customers living in Papamoa and Paengoroa will benefit from a new mobile site and a new Government Rural Broadband Initiative site that has been built in the two areas.

The $400,000 new 4G mobile site at the Papamoa
Tavern will give locals faster access.

The company has also co-located on one of the Government's Rural Broadband Initiative sites in Paengoroa extending 4G mobile services to customers located in and around Paengoroa Junction.

Both sites will give customers access to 3G and 4G mobile data.

General manager of networks for Spark Connect, Colin Brown, said customers living, working or travelling to central Papamoa and Paengoroa would immediately benefit from faster mobile speeds to do things like upload, download and stream content.

Mr Brown said the new tower built by Spark in Papamoa would have a positive flow on effect for customers living and operating businesses in the greater suburb.

He said the improved mobile access was timely as Tauranga City and the greater Bay of Plenty region continued to attract more New Zealanders as a place to live and work.

"It's vital we continue to expand Spark's 4G mobile network to areas like Papamoa, Paengaroa and the wider Bay of Plenty to cater to the significant population growth the region continues to experience."

Since December last year, Spark has delivered 4G services to 16 mobile sites in Tauranga City and 19 mobile sites in the wider Bay of Plenty region.
