Christchurch-based singer and actress Ali Harper treads the boards as one of New Zealand's most versatile performers. She has been performing professionally since 1991 and has appeared around New Zealand and America in theatre, cabaret and television.
She received Actress of the Year at the United Solo Festival in NewYork in 2014 for the one-woman play Bombshells and is having continued success with her cabaret shows - performing Naughty and Nice at the Metropolitan Room in New York in 2013 -2014, and entertaining a Broadway cast party at the famous Birdland Jazz Club.
Ali Harper will be performing a concert showcasing her double album Naughty and Nice at the National Jazz Festival at Easter. Ali describes the show as a "chocolate box selection of jazz and blues, gorgeous sultry ballads with French and Latin flavours" with her own deliciously naughty slant on some of the greatest storytelling songs.
"I pride myself on being a little bit nice and a whole lotta naughty, especially as I get older!" says Ali.
"In my theatrical life I have done my fair share of pure, innocent leading lady roles and then when I do my concerts, I turn things up a bit and pop in some deliciously naughty songs I have picked up on my travels."
Ali is a superb entertainer, her vocal versatility and infectious personality mesmerising her audience. She is accompanied by an accomplished seven piece band led by the irrepressible Dr Rodger Fox. This concert is sponsored by Radio Live.
'Ali Harper lights up every room she enters, owns every stage she steps upon, and steals every heart that hears her sing.' - Alex Rybeck, New York, 2013.
