Multiple cars have crashed on State Highway 2 in Te Puna.

A police spokeswoman said reports were four or five vehicles had nose-to-tailed each other around 7.25am near the Te Puna BP petrol station.

She said there were no injuries, but traffic had backed up quickly.

The cars were swapping insurance details, she said.
