Jan Tinetti has selected Noelene Tewhakaara of Katikati as her Youth MP for 2019.

Noelene is studying at Toi Ohomai in Tauranga and with the aim of fulfilling her dream of becoming a lawyer, her goal since she was 12.

Tinetti, a Labour list MP based in Tauranga, said picking her Youth MP was one of the hardest decisions she has ever had to make.

"Every young person who applied was fantastic and it really does fill you with pride when you see the calibre of our young people."

Noelene impressed everyone with her poise, eloquence and determination to make New Zealand a better place for young people.

In her application, Noelene said she wanted to drive change to empower youth and to encourage her peers to challenge themselves to reach their full potential.

"I'm really happy to be able to give Noelene this opportunity to be able to experience Parliament first hand and I'm looking forward to working with her. I think Noelene has a great future ahead of her and I see her as a future leader," said Tinetti.
