Mount Maunganui defeated Whakarewarewa 26-23 in a pulsating final of the Bayfair Baywide Premier club competition at the Tauranga Domain today.

Mount led 16-8 at half time and then jumped out to a 23-8 lead before Whaka fought back with two excellent tries to set-up an exciting final 10 minutes.

The game attracted a bumper crowd of nearly 3000 spectators.

Tauranga Sports defeated Greerton Marist in the Baywide development final which was the curtain-raiser to the main event.
