A motorcyclist has been injured and another person trapped in a car in two separate crashes in Tauranga today.

At 12.36pm all emergency services were called to a car and motorcyclist collision at the intersection of State Highway 29 and SH36, the main roundabout entrance to The Lakes.

A motorcyclist had come off their bike and firefighters were helping police manage traffic as ambulance staff treated the rider. It was not clear what injuries the rider suffered.

Four minutes later a truck and car crashed on Fraser St, near Lloyd St.

Fire communications shift manager Jaron Philips said a person was still trapped in the car and firefighters were working to cut them free.

It was not clear if the road was blocked but motorists were advised to take alternative routes if possible.
