More than $400,000 awarded to Bay of Plenty organisations

Bay of Plenty organisations have benefitted from the latest round of grants awarded by the New Zealand Community Trust worth $415,315.

According to a statement from the trust, the largest grant was awarded to the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union, which was gifted $209,377.57.

The grant will go towards office rental and salaries of the chief executive officer, coach development team leader, player development manager, regional rugby manager (Eastern BOP) and Western BOP junior rugby development officer.

The Bay of Plenty Coast Rowing Club was also awarded $22,800 to spend on 12 new indoor rowing machines.

Mamaku School was gifted $100,000 towards a new swimming pool complex at the school and Rotorua Lakes High School was awarded $14,361.54 towards four portable outdoor basketball towers.

Tauranga Hockey Association was gifted $50,000 towards the salary of coachforce and participation officer and the general manager.

Pikiao Lakeside Sports and Community Association Inc was awarded $11,819 towards a new roof.

Get Smart Tauranga Trust was also awarded $5000 towards the salary of a manager and the Tennis Bay of Plenty Association was gifted $1,957.38 towards accommodation costs in Pāpāmoa as well as coaching.
