More than 200 cars turnout for the 13th Tauranga Toy Run

There were hot rods, classics, street machines and muscle cars – all parked up at Fraser Cove and shining in the last of the day's light.

The 13th Tauranga Toy Run was a hit.

One of the organisers, Jill de Buisson, said it was probably the best turnout they had ever had.

"It's superb – over 200 cars. We've got two hot rods over there full of toys.

"We're very, very lucky. I just want to thank everyone. I'm amped with it, it's awesome."

The brand new toys would make their way to the Child Cancer Foundation and all money donations would be given to Waipuna Hospice.

De Buisson also thanked the event's main sponsors – World's End, Burger King and Fraser Cove Shopping Centre management.

The convoy of cars made its way from Baypark through to Papamoa, then down Beach Rd, over to Mount Maunganui and down Fraser St to finish up at Fraser Cove yesterday evening.

Once there, families and motoring enthusiasts walked among the myriad of machines, admiring them and soaking up the festive summer atmosphere.
