More choosing to climb Mauao

More people are choosing to climb at Mount Maunganui instead of walking about the base of Mauao.

Figures released to the Bay of Plenty Times showed 237,000 people reached the summit of Mauao in the first three months of this year.

The number compares to nearly 176,000 people walking around Mauao's base track.

Waikareao Estuary's walkway was used ny nearly 40,000 people.
