Men Wanted for Harmony Chorus

One of the country's leading men's singing groups is opening its ranks to new members. The Mighty River Harmony Chorus, which draws singers from the Waikato, Tauranga and Rotorua areas, wants to boost numbers in preparation for the national barbershop singers' convention later this year.

Chorus president Howard Ettema says that with 60 members currently the group has an impressive sound.

"The more singers we have the more resonant and powerful the Chorus can be," he says.

"Men who enjoy singing and can hold a tune are more than welcome to come along and try us out. We'll give training to newcomers, and they don't have to be able to read music because we provide CDs and music files to assist learning."
