A man who was trapped under a rolled tractor for at least two hours before being found remains in Waikato Hospital in serious condition.
A Waikato District Health Board spokeswoman said the man, in his 50s, was in a serious but stable condition in the High Dependency Unit.
Yesterday,
he was flown to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
A police spokeswoman said police were alerted to the accident on Hume Rd just before 3pm and Fire and Emergency New Zealand personnel also attended.
The spokeswoman said there were reports a person's leg became trapped under a tractor after it rolled at the rural property in Aongatete.
Katikati fire station officer Brendan Gibbs said the injured man was trapped from the waist down.
Gibbs said after the tractor rolled, it may have been a couple of hours before someone found the trapped man.
He said two fire crews from Katikati attended the incident, and fire firefighters under instructions from St John ambulance staff used equipment to raise the tractor to free the man, helped by Downer Power & Gas working nearby.
Gibbs said the critically injured man was talking and given pain relief while the rescue took place.
Concerned neighbours declined to comment.
