One person is in custody after a police chase in Pāpāmoa earlier today.

In a statement to SunLive, police alleged the driver was asked to pull over about 10.35am.

“The driver was followed at road speed for a short distance and stopped along Gloucester Rd before fleeing on foot.”

Police said officers, including a dog unit, searched for the man through residential Pāpāmoa.

A SunLive reader emailed in saying he saw four police cars headed down the Tauranga Eastern Link/State Highway 2 towards Pāpāmoa.
