A Maketu man is facing charges after allegedly leading police on a high-speed pursuit before road spikes stopped him on Thursday night.
The 28-year-old man, due to appear in Tauranga District Court on May 9, has been charged with failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and drink driving.
Apolice media spokeswoman said the motorist allegedly sped through the roundabout at State Highway 2 and State Highway 33 near Paengaroa.
The spokeswoman said the car was eventually stopped by road spikes.
