A man has been arrested in Gate Pa after he allegedly stole a car this afternoon.

Police received reports that a stolen vehicle had been sighted on State Highway 29 near Welcome Bay.

The woman who reported it believed the car belonged to one of her family members and followed it.

Police located the vehicle in a supermarket carpark in the Gate Pa area.

The driver fled the vehicle but was caught shortly after by police.
