A man appeared in Tauranga District Court this morning, charged with the murder of Richard Uddin, a three-month-old baby.
He also faced seven additional charges of assault on a child.
His name and details of the case have been suppressed.
He has been remanded in custody and will next appear
in Tauranga High Court on July 20.
