If you haven't received your EasyVote pack in the mail by now, you are not enrolled to vote in tomorrow's election.

This is a line I've regularly heard on the radio in recent days, and thankfully so.

Having moved from Australia in recent weeks I hadn't really thought too much about updating my details to vote in the electorate I now live.

I guess I assumed I would continue to vote in the area I had spent most of my life - until I heard that line on the radio.

EasyVote packs were sent to all enrolled New Zealanders last week.

This means, if you haven't received your personalised pack in the mail by now then it is highly likely you are either not enrolled at all, or need to update your details - by today!

If you're not enrolled, you're not eligible to vote in this year's General Election.

I have to admit, if I had not been given this reminder I would likely be voting in my home town's electorate this weekend, rather than the one I am now a part of. I have now updated my details.

Today is your last chance to enrol, there is no enrolment on election day tomorrow.

There are a few ways you can sort this out and ensure you have a say in how your electorate and country is run.

People can drop into any advance voting place to enrol and vote at the same time, or you can get an enrolment form at www.elections.org.nz to print, sign and return.

Information about where, when and how to vote is available at the same website.

There is no excuse not to vote.

With special arrangements in place for some voters including some in rural areas, hospitals, rest homes, remand centres and for blind or low-vision voters, and with voting from overseas beginning on September 6, it's hard to think of any reason people are unable to make their vote happen.

If you have an opinion on how our country is run, how it should be run, how it shouldn't be run or any thoughts at all relating to the progress of your area and New Zealand then it is in your best interest to enrol or update your details and make sure your say is recorded.

If you don't, just remember you've had plenty of opportunities to do so if you disagree with any decisions made in the next few years.
