Margaret Forsyth has been announced by Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone as the new Magic head coach.

In a statement released today, Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty Zone Chairman John Wiltshire said Forsyth was a "highly skilled coach" who was ready to step up into elite netball.

"She has been a contributor to Magic as assistant coach in 2014 and 2015 as well as being head coach of our inaugural Beko Netball League team this year. Margaret is also assistant coach of the NZA team," Wiltshire said.

"We undertook a thorough search for the best netball coach available to lead Magic into an exciting new era and to build on the success the team has achieved over many years."

Forsyth said she was passionate about the team, and looked forward to coaching them in the new ANZ Netball Elite League.

"This role is regarded as one of the most sought after in New Zealand netball so I couldn't be more excited to be taking it on," she said.

"The previous coaching teams have built an impressive legacy and I take the responsibility of continuing and building on that legacy very seriously. I will give everything to this role and am ready to take on the opportunity."

Forsyth was a Silver Fern between 1979 - 1987.
