A lucky person in Tauranga who purchased a non-winning Instant Kiwi ticket now has the chance to turn it into cash.

The second time lucky ticket was purchased at New World in Gate Pa.

Ten Instant Kiwi players from around the country are the very first winners of the 2nd Chance draw, giving anyone with a unsuccessful Instant Kiwi ticket another shot at winning one in 10 weekly prizes of $1000.

"We're always thinking about how we can create a bit more fun for our players," said Lotto NZ's Chief Innovation and Technology Officer Ben Coney in a release.

"Now customers get a second chance to turn their Instant Kiwi ticket into cash just by scanning the barcode with their phone."

Players can enter the 2nd Chance draw by scanning the barcode on the front of any non-winning Instant Kiwi ticket using the Lotto NZ mobile app or by manually entering the ticket serial number into a MyLotto account.
