It took months of training and determination for Stacey Roche to get to the top of Mauao.

But now the 40-year-old Mount Maunganui woman is reaping the rewards of her efforts and enjoying brand new gym equipment.

More than $4000 was raised for SwitchedOn Exercise and Wellness Centre after Roche conquered what she called her "Everest".

Roche had never let her cerebral palsy hold her back and her 40th birthday, on March 14, was no different.

She climbed to the summit of Mauao in an hour and 20 minutes with an entourage of supporters.

A brand new Assault Air Bike, a Hack Squat Leg Press Combo machine and a number of smaller items had been purchased with the funds raised from Roche's Mount climb.

Roche said she was "blown away" with how much money was donated for the new equipment.

"I go into the gym now and I'm pretty damn proud of myself," she said.

Funds had been donated through a Givealittle page, which Roche said were from strangers and people she knew.

"I'm really blown away by how many people got behind me and supported me," she said.

SILC Charitable Trust systems support manager Liz Plank said the team of exercise physiologists, with some input from Roche, decided on what items to purchase.

"We wanted to maximise the funds raised to purchase items that would be multi-use and would benefit a broad range of members and provide a good variety of equipment."

Plank said everyone at SwitchedOn, members and staff, were proud of Stacey for her enthusiasm and commitment to the challenge.

"She has motivated many both in and outside of SwitchedOn to pursue their own goals, some even wanting to tackle the Mount themselves.

"Stacey is proof that with determination and commitment anyone can achieve their goals," Plank said.

"All of us at SwitchedOn have loved being part of this journey with her and are so very grateful for the community support this received."
