A message to those of our leaders involved in this investigation in the passenger rail investigation (News, April 1): please also consider that a passenger rail service also gives the ability for towns and villages along its route to grow significantly in capacity.

This would be a far better population growth strategy than adding more outlying suburbs to Tauranga and exacerbating the already overloaded roading system.

To. the Regional Council, Port Company and KiwiRail, to what extent is the capacity of the current rail line utilised? Is there a way of scheduling a daily commuter service around the freight trains, even one service a day in during the morning and out in the evening? This should not be too difficult surely?

Brexit delays

Brexit has now become "complicated" - so many experts, who can't explain it, are saying.

That is because, like so many social and political issues arising in the 21st century, the "experts" are arrogant and look for far more than actually exists, or in which they are instructed.

The 2016 UK Referendum was simple. Fifty-two per cent voted to leave (which experts had not correctly anticipated), and there was no rider to that proposition requested.

Ever since those charged with effecting that decision have unilaterally imputed a "HOW" to implement that decision!

Brexit is now overdue - but still these arrogant, spoilt community leaders, who didn't originally get their way, continuing to needlessly complicate "Leaving".

The simple and only answer is - nothing is required.

Experts before and after the referendum predicted "doom and gloom" as to UK economy; currency; employment; etc - but the reverse has occurred.
