Lanes open after crane crashes on Tauranga Harbour Bridge

Te Awanui Drive has now reopened to two lanes following a crash on the bridge this morning.

Police earlier were called to a vehicle collision on Te Awanui Drive on the Tauranga Harbour Bridge this morning.

A truck carrying a crane crashed on the bridge and caused significant delays.

Police advised motorists to avoid the area.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency also advised motorists travelling between Mount Maunganui and Tauranga to avoid the bridge.

The left westbound lane was blocked over the bridge as a crane had partially gone through the barrier.
