People are being encouraged to ditch their four-wheels for two tomorrow for Go By Bike Day.

As a part of Bike Wise Month, the event encourages New Zealanders to give cycling a go and to discover, or rediscover, the joys of cycling.

Transport Agency Chief Executive Geoff Dangerfield said as well as it being good for people to realise the benefits of cycling, it is also a great opportunity to promote road safety.

"With more people on bikes over summer, and particularly during February, it's also a good time to remind drivers and people who cycle to look out for each other, be considerate and share the road safely."

Go By Bike Day is just one of many events organised by the NZ Transport Agency throughout February for Bike Wise Month.
