Last Sunday the Keep Whangamata Beautiful campaign had a clean up of roadside rubbish on State Highway 25, just north of Whangamata. Led by Shaun Fay, the two-hour clean-up collected cans, bottles, packaging and an old steel banded tyre. The campaign volunteers worked very safely as they took a clear and reasonable health and safety approach. They identified all possible hazards, wore necessary hi-viz apparel and personal protective equipment and worked towards the oncoming traffic. No accidents were reported during this project. Special thanks and thumbs up to Whangamata Refuse Transfer Centre for accepting this roadside rubbish free - it was very community-minded.
