Two highly respected faces have been selected as Regional Judges for the 2015 Pride of New Zealand Awards.

Ecostore founder Malcome Rands and Hospice New Zealand CEO Mary Schumacher will join Silver Fern netballer Maria Tutaia, The New Zealand Herald Editor Shayne Currie and The Hits host Polly Gillespie in this year's awards judging panel.

The Pride of New Zealand Awards honour extraordinary Kiwis who make a significant difference in their communities.

"It is an absolute privilege to be taking part in these awards that reward selfless and remarkable acts of bravery," Mr Rands said in a statement.

"New Zealand is a country full of kind-hearted, inspirational and heroic people who though ordinary menage extraordinary feats. I am certain that judging the hundreds of nominations will be no small task."

Mrs Schumacher said, "I was honoured to be asked to be a Regional Judge for this year's Pride of New Zealand Awards, it is so important to recognise people who give so selflessly to their communities is so many ways.

"New Zealanders are well known for their 'roll up your sleeves and help' attitude and these awards are a national opportunity for people's contributions to be acknowledged and celebrated. I am very much looking forward to being a judge but I know it will be a challenge given the calibre of previous nominees." said Mrs Schumacher.

Nominations for the awards, in conjunction with NZME's New Zealand Herald, The Hits and major sponsor TSB Bank, are open until Sunday June 14.
