Melissa Howell's 2016 fundraising calendar is intended to both inspire and ease a burden.

Earlier this year, 13 cancer survivors put themselves in front of the lens of Brydie Thompson of Brydie Photography. Now the results of those photo shoots, plus each one of those survivors' stories, have been threaded together to produce Melissa's Standing Strong calendar.

"The ladies are all happy. They've all seen the final photos and are all overwhelmed," says Melissa.

The photos were taken at various locations around Tauranga including the Mount main beach, The Elms and Robbins Park.

"They all enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun and Brydie and I have similar ideas and visions that meshed quite nicely."

The calendars are for sale at $25 each with the money raised going to four women with cancer to assist with the financial burden that comes with a diagnosis and treatment.

Melissa hopes to be able to raise at least $2500 for each of the women and to make it available to them before Christmas. The support of local businesses has offset some of the costs of producing the calendar.

*The calendar will be for sale at various businesses, through the Facebook page Fundraising Calendar 2016 Standing Strong, by emailing

or calling 021 025 12252.
