Kathryn Wilson has established herself as New Zealand's premier footwear designer in just a decade, growing from a fledgling designer to becoming an influential business woman with a brand that is in constantly high demand.

After graduating from Massey University and winning an AMP Scholarship, Kathryn honed her design skills and set about creating her own line of footwear. In 2003, under the guidance of successful New Zealand design house Caroline Sills, Kathryn Wilson the label was born.

Since then, Kathryn Wilson has emerged as one of the fastest-growing fashion brands in New Zealand. Stocked in over 100 local boutiques and with an ever-growing online market, the label is on the front foot in the fashion industry.

Max Mason - Businessman Turned Ultra Distance Hiker

In 2015 after three months of training around Tauranga and climbs up Mauao and Mt Te Aroha the former chief executive of Tauranga's Chamber of Commerce Max Mason embarked on the trek of a lifetime.

Six months and 3,500km along Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine in the USA was the hardest thing Max had ever done. Max shared writer Henry Thoreau's love of nature and felt a hankering to escape the ease of his fifty-something life and what he calls "developed country complacency".

"Everything's comfortable. Everything's nice. Everything's easy. Life isn't supposed to be like that. It's too easy. I wanted to go back to a more elemental existence for a while. Also, I wanted to become incredibly fit and strong, and I did."

Max has returned from his journey with a deep sense of gratitude for his life in Tauranga.
Max will talk about his transformational journey, motivation and how the challenges he faced can be applied to life and leadership.
