Hundreds turn out for the HOT Pink Walk in Tauranga

Hundreds of people dressed in all shades of pink turned out to support Breast Cancer Support Service Tauranga Trust.

The crowd started from Masonic Park on The Strand at 5.30 on Wednesday night and made its way around the CBD.

Breast Cancer Support Service Tauranga Trust service manager Helen Alice said the walk was amazing.

"It was a lovely evening, not too windy, and there was a huge crowd.

"It was very hard to move around through Masonic Park there were so many people. They were spilled out on to The Strand.

"It was such a good atmosphere. People were happy to be there.

"There were lots of kids, and it was good to see there were a lot of men there as well."

A highlight of the evening was the pooch parade, the first time the canine event had been held. Thirty-one dogs took part.

Alice said the walkers' costumes were fantastic - especially the dogs'.
