A large amount of kiwifruit appears to have been lost at one of the Bay's busiest intersections.

Mushy green kiwifruit remains have blanketed the intersection of Jellicoe St and Oxford St in the centre of the township.

The culprit behind the spill appears to be unknown, at this stage.

The Twitter group Te Puke Goodness Grows Here posted a picture of the spill with the words "Oops! A flood of kiwifruit on the Te Puke Highway!! Who dropped this load of the worlds healthiest fruit?''
