An investigation is underway after the death of a man at a Tauranga property – the third North Island homicide in three days.

Emergency services were called at about 11.40am to Fraser St, where they found a dead man.

Police said a person was currently helping with their inquiries and a scene examination would take place at the property today.

“Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter,” Detective Inspector Lew Warner said.

“However, we would like to hear from anyone who might have information about this incident or those involved.”

Anyone with information should contact police at 105 and use the reference number 251214/9237.

It is the third homicide investigation launched in New Zealand in as many days.

Rotorua police are investigating the death of a man found with critical injuries in a crashed car on Friday. Police said his injuries did not appear crash-related.

On Saturday, Central District police found two people dead at a rural property in Ruatahi, near Whanganui National Park. A scene examination was expected to take several days.
