Heavy rain collapses ceiling

The roof of a house in a Tauranga unit complex collapsed last night during torrential rain.

The ceiling in one of bedrooms of one of the 12th Ave units gave way about 9.45pm sending water gushing into the house, a tenant said.

The ceiling in the neighboring unit held up but needed significant repairs after it became waterlogged, she said.

Fire fighters were called to the scene to assist.
