Almost 170,000 students nationwide are now able to view their 2015 NCEA results on the NZ Qualifications Authority website.

That includes 9216 students in the Bay of Plenty region who sat exams between November 6 and December 4 last year.

More than 3100 Bay students were scheduled to sit level one English, followed by 2702 sitting level one science, and 2673 level one maths.

All the hard work put in by Otumoetai College student Brianna Stewart last year paid off.

The 16-year-old said apart from her level two maths grade she was pleased with her results.

Brianna, who will be in Year 12 this year, said she got an excellence grade for her level one English exam and merits for level one media studies, science, graphics, and history.

"For maths I got achievements in only two of my tests but I wasn't too disappointed because the exam was harder than I expected, plus I was doing a subject ahead of my year.

"A few of the questions in the algebra section were particularly tricky and most people found the algebra test very difficult. While I am a little bit disappointed because I did better in some of my mock tests, overall I'm pretty happy with all my results."

Brianna said this year she planned to drop graphics to help lighten her workload and free up extra study time to strive for more excellence endorsements.

Her ultimate career goal was to become a writer, she said.

"My favourite subject is definitely media studies," Brianna said.

Her mother Julie Kearney said she was proud of her daughter's achievements.

"Brianna has always been quite studious and she can do anything when she sets her mind to it."

NZQA communications spokeswoman Lisa Gibbison said online results for students who sat NZ Scholarship examinations will be available from February 9.

A regional breakdown of the national results would not be available until the end of March.
