Habitat tradesmen needed

Habitat for Humanity is calling for qualified tradesmen and skilled volunteers to come forward in the wake of the Christchurch earthquakes.
Paul Broatch, chairman of the Tauranga branch, said teams of volunteers would concentrate their efforts on "assisting in the rebuilding or repair of damaged homes for the most vulnerable people".
This included those with no or insufficient insurance, the elderly, those with disabilities and those in the lower income sector.
Mr Broatch said the group would come across a few problems, such as the provision of their own vehicles, trailers and tools, but concessionary prices were on offer for ferry crossings and flights.
